Day One

Words Completed Today: 1699
Words Left To Write: 48301

Hello!

Yes, I'm back doing NaNoWriMo for the fourth time. Yes, I really must be mad. LOL! This year I'm writing fanfic again, only this time I'm choosing to write Torchwood related fic. I've had a story I've been wanting to write, and this is the perfect time. It also gives me the chance to catch up on the Weekly Writing Challenges we've had over at the Torchwood Australia forum. I got a bit slack doing those. We've also got a Round Robin story due to take off next month and I can count anything I write for that.

I have just completed Day One, and I'm happy with where I am. I'm a bit tired, so now's a good place to stop. Otherwise I'll just write garbage.

Day Sixteen

Words Completed Today: 1687
Words Left To Write: 21601

I've survived to the half-way mark! *g* I have lost complete control over my story. I have characters popping up all over the place. I thought I had a nice tidy end, but the story's gone beyond that. Quite frankly, I don't care. I'm just putting down what comes out. I'll be so glad when it's all over. Then next month, I'll be looking forward until next year.

Day Thirteen

Words Completed Today: 2114
Words Left To Write: 26753

Nearly halfway. *g* Yesterday was the first day I didn't manage my minimum word count. I went out for the day, and then chatted online to my sister and mother. By that stage I was too tired to do any more than 1350. I made up the extra today. I'm not wanting to use any of my cushion just yet.

I have no idea where my story is going. It's kind of just meandering along. I think it's ending up being more historical than mainstream. I'm just going with the flow. It doesn't have to make sense right now. So long as the words continue to flow, I'll be more than happy.

Day Nine

Words Completed Today: 1730
Words Left To Write: 33740

I really didn't feel like writing today. I kept procrastinating something shocking. I'm actually more diligent on the days that I'm working than on my days off. I went shopping today, so that was nice. I wonder if I can count the time line I scribbled yesterday as part of my word count? Too bad I can't count the hours I spend in research.

Day Seven

Words Completed Today: 1759
Words Left To Write: 37280

One week down, three and a bit weeks to go. Still just chipping away at my word count. I'm not entirely sure what's happening with my story, but it only has to make sense to me right now. I had one character arrive yesterday. He was only going to be a mentioned character, but he's wanted to tell his own story. Naturally, I've just gone with the flow.

Day Five

Words Completed Today: 1761
Words Left To Write: 40855

I didn't start writing today until later. I' was really good the first three days in writing my totals first thing. Today I was a bit slacker. But, I wrote when I was ready to, and I'm happy with what I wrote. It's such a fine line. I know that sometimes I need to push myself to write, but then sometimes what then gets written is absolute rubbish. But, I'm happy today. Yesterday, I had to finish off when I got home from work. I was messengering my sister and I couldn't very well tell her to go away. My 5 year old nephew chimed in on the conversation and asked if I could go and visit next weekend. That brought a tear to my eye. I explained that I was working and couldn't go. He then asked if I could fly over today (being on days off) and fly back tomorrow. That made me really cry then. He's such a sweet boy. It's not so easy flying over to NZ just for a night. I would have if I could. That's probably the reason I nearly bawled at the Melbourne Cup parade today. I was only watching it to fill in time, but they started off with a pipe band. Made me miss Dunedin something bad. We have a lot of pipe bands in Dunedin.

Anyway, back to the writing! Tonight I managed to keep up my NaNoWriMo tradition so far, of killing off a character. I've done it every year. *G* This character was always going to die, so no great surprises there.
