Blathering On

My work, play and writing

I have to admit, it's been quite nice being back at work. It's good to get back into routine. I love holidays, but sometimes I miss a sense of routine. First day back at work was brilliant because I got to take blood for the first time! Very very exciting for me. I got it first go so that was very very cool. I never had to learn back in NZ because that was something the doctors did. Over here, the doctors only take bloods if the nurse can't get it. I always hated asking others to do the bloods for me, so now I only have to ask if I can't get it. I haven't had to do it since though. It's not going to be something I love doing, but at least now I can do it.

Speaking of blood, I donated blood yesterday for the first time here in Australia. Not really any different, just a hundred extra questions for new donors. I took just over 8mins to bleed out. My record is just over 5mins. I'm already booked in for my next appt. in 3 months. I'd been a bit worried about my haemoglobin levels because I haven't really been eating much red meat recently. It was okay - 123. The minimum to donate is 120. I hate to think what my iron stores are like though. :( I should go and buy a nice big steak. *g*

Not long to NaNoWriMo now! Only 9 days. I'm using the same blog as last year.
