stuff

Just sitting here waiting for tea to cook. I'm having chicken and bean chilli. I can make it do several nights, so I'll have some to take to work for the next couple of days. I might be able to stretch it for all three days that I'm working. I hate trying to organise meals before I go to work in the afternoon, and I really hate buying it at work. It's so much easier to cook up a big pot of something.

I have lots to look forward to at the moment. First was finding out that Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds stage show is coming to Australia, including Melbourne. Second was that Justin Hayward was coming with it. I'm so excited! I've already bought my ticket. I have a reasonably close seat, within the first 15 rows I think. Unfortunately I have to wait until September for it.

The next exciting thing was, noticing on a poster, that James Reyne is playing a couple of shows and launching a new album. I have followed him throughout his solo career, but have never seen him play. The funny thing is, I was thinking earlier today of all my favourite singers and bands, who I would most love to see in concert. James Reyne was the first that came to mind. It's only been like 20 years that I've been listening to him. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a ticket. It's next week, but I haven't got a credit card and I'm working the next couple of days, so I can't buy it from the venue. Maybe I could send my brother. Hmm, that's a thought. That reminds me, I have to tell him Lily Allen's coming to Melbourne, in case he wants to see her.

Then there are a couple of big shows over the upcoming months - Miss Saigon and Phantom of the Opera. I've never seen either of those, so I hope to be able to go.

The weather's been really iffy the past couple of days. Can't go anywhere without a jacket or umbrella. It's still fairly warm though. Back in Dunedin, I would be in my winter pyjamas with my hot water bottle by now. It's nice not to be freezing my butt off. We do need the rain though. What would be perfect is if it rained all night, but was fine all day.

Bought the new Rufus Wainwright album. I don't like it as much as Want One and Two, but I still enjoy it just the same. I'll probably change my mind once I've listened to it more.

Vodafone must have been kind to us on Sunday. I rang Mum for Mother's day and we talked for over an hour, but it only cost less than $20. Normally it costs me 60 cents a minute for a call within Australia. Must of been because of Mother's Day. My mobile's prepaid because I don't use it that often, and I like to know how much I'm paying. Vodafone's great because with their sim card system, when I go back to NZ, I just swap cards. No worrying about global roaming.

Heehee. Watching Big Brother is like watching a soap opera, only with better acting. Highly amusing. I couldn't stand being on BB myself. How could I go without books for all that time, or be allowed to write. I'd be evicting myself pretty quickly. I couldn't cope with the boredom, or not having my own space. I'd quickly go insane. Plus, I'd miss Jix too much, and *gasp* no Cary Grant movie nights! lol! I will have to miss the next movie night because I can't get the movie. :(

Now that I've eaten tea, I feel like curling up and going to sleep. It's only 6pm, so that's not really an option. Not unless I want to be awake at about 12am, and then be awake all night.
