Happy New Year!!

Bit late but never mind!

Not too much longer and I'll have another nephew. He's due later on this month. It's likely that my sister will have an early induction because it looks as if he's already 10lb. Before you blanch, my sister tends to have long babies rather than fat babies. My niece is really excited about coming over in April. She tells everyone that she's going to Australia and she's going to be doing this, this and this.

Had to bite my tongue over a post on another board. Someone posted about having a sinus infection and found some antibiotics from the previous year. She took them and ended up having a reaction. It was a nasty reaction and I'm glad she was alright. Everyone was giving her sympathy and going on about getting rid of any unused meds. Fair enough. My issue? Why the heck had she not finished the prescription? It really, really really annoys me when people don't complete their courses of antibiotics. This, along with the over prescribing of antibiotics is what causes antibiotic resistance. MRSA is a huge problem across healthcare facilities. There is only one antibiotic that can treat it. I really wanted to say this in the thread, but thought I'd end up sounding like a bitch. I feel better now that I have that off my chest. *G*

Trying to find wedding songs for my Dan and Fiona wedding story. My problem is that I hate a lot of the songs that people tend to use. I haven't looked up any wedding sites because I want something different. I don't want to use something that everyone else uses. I'm going through some of the music I have, to see if anything pops up. Personally, if I was to get married right now, I would like to use Adagio from Spartacus. It's my favourite piece of music and it's absolutely beautiful. The duet is probably my favourite scene of the entire ballet. I think I have Mary Sue'd a little in the story because Fiona has the same ideas as I do about what she'd going to walk down the aisle to. I've come across some lovely songs, but not quite suitable to walk down the aisle to. I do have the perfect song for Dan. Maybe he needs to walk down the aisle.

For My Lady - The Moody Blues (Written by Ray Thomas)

My boat sails stormy seas,
Battles oceans filled with tears.
At last my port's in view
Now that I've discovered you.
Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady.
Give it freely and completely
To my lady.

As life goes drifting by
Like a breeze she'll gently sigh
And slowly bow her head
Then you'll hear her softly cry.

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady.
Give it freely and completely
To my lady.

Words that you say when we're alone,
Though actions speak louder than words,
But all I can say is I love you so
To drive away all my hurt.

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady.
Give it freely and completely
To my lady.

Set sail towards the sun;
Feel the warmth that's just begun.
Share each and every dream,
They belong to everyone.

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady.
Give it freely and completely
To my lady.

Ray wrote some beautiful songs.

There are a couple of verses from Remember Me, My Friend by Blue Jays that I really like. I've bolded my favourite parts.

You don't need to ask me if I'll be your friend.
I am. I am.
You don't need to ask me if I'm sure my friend.
I am.
I am your friend,
You must remember me.
I'm the one who saw through the world's disguise,
Took away its cloak and made it hide
From me.
Remember me?

Walking on this Earth, finding you,
You, you.
Walking on this Earth, finding you,
You, you.
What can I say?
You don't need to find the words to say what's on your mind.

If you need a reason to begin again,
I am. I am.
You will find an answer at your journey's end.
I am
Waiting there, my friend,
You must remember me,
I'm the one who knew you when,
I'm the one you call your friend,
Feel free,
Remember me.

Sigh. If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate them. I hope to get the story completed by next month. Thank goodness for the writing challenge. It will give me a good kick in the pants to get it finished. Especially since I started it during the last one. I think I'm frustrated most because I don't have all my music handy. I'm going through withdrawls. It doesn't help that I'm bored with what I do have.

I think I might have found what I'm looking for.

To Share Our Love - The Moody Blues (Written by John Lodge)

Makes me feel good,
Now I can see
It takes more than one to give
The life we need.
I can't think why
I never thought of this before
Now I know what it means to me
To share my love.

Now that I know
I've found the answer for myself
What a day it would be for me
To share your love.

I can't think why
I never thought of this before
Now I know what it means to me
To share my love.

Now that I know
I've found the answer for myself
What a day it would be for me
To share your love.

I can't think why
I never thought of this before
Now I know what it means to me
To share my love.

Unfortunately, I can't think of this song off the top of my head and I don't have my MB cds with me. I do like the lyrics. I just listened to a sample at Amazon. I do remember it now. It's a little faster than I'd prefer, but I can cope.

I'm still open to other suggestions. :)

I don't have any song suggestions, but I don't see why Dan can't walk down the aisle, too. :)

If you don't remember exactly how a song goes, you could try looking on youtube.com to see if anyone put a video up that includes it.

I always thought "Here, There and Everywhere" by the Beatles would make a nice wedding song.

To lead a better life I need my love to be here...

Here, making each day of the year
Changing my life with a wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there's something there

There, running my hands through her hair
Both of us thinking how good it can be
Someone is speaking but she doesn't know he's there

I want her everywhere and if she's beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there

I want her everywhere and if she's beside me
I know I need never care
But to love her is to need her everywhere
Knowing that love is to share

Each one believing that love never dies
Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there

    To be there and everywhere
    Here, there and everywhere

I also love "True Love Ways" by Buddy Holly. The words are very simple, and his voice is just unbelievably lovely.

    Lyrics:

    Just you know why
    why you and I
    will by and by
    know true love ways

    Sometimes we'll sigh
    sometimes we'll cry
    but you'll know why
    just you and I
    know true love ways

    Throughout the days
    those true love ways
will bring us joys to share
    with those who really care

    Sometimes we'll sigh
    sometimes we'll cry
    but you'll know why
    just you and I
    know true love ways

    Me again!!

I think "Love Ain't For Keeping" by The Who is pretty spiffy, too!

    Lyrics:

Who - Love Ain't For Keeping Lyrics

    Layin' on my back
    In the newly mown grass
    Rain is coming down
But I know the clouds will pass
    You bring me tea
    Say "the babe's a-sleepin'"
    Lay down beside me
    Love ain't for keeping

    Black ash from the foundry
    Hangs like a hood
    But the air is perfumed
    By the burning firewood
    The seeds are bursting
    The spring is seeping
    Lay down beside me
    Love ain't for keeping
    Lay down beside me
    Love ain't for keeping

    Lay down beside me
    Love ain't for keeping
    Lay down my darling
    Love ain't for keeping
