writing and other things

I finally finished The Things We Never Knew. It's currently with my very lovely editors. It's going to be a nightmare to format. It's one thing formatting a 3000 odd word story by hand, 13000 is another matter. Eeek! Oh well, it serves me right for being wordy. I've started a new story tonight, something a little bit lighter. It's inspired by a post on another forum. I needed to write something light. Tried fluffy - but I'm not in a fluffy sort of mood. Actually, I don't think I'm a fluffy sort of writer. I can do humourous and I can do angst - but not fluff. I like reading fluff but it's not my thing to write. Hmm, never really thought about it before.

Does anyone else have trouble choosing names for characters? I always try not to use the name of someone off the board and that narrows the choices down. I have the same problems when playing Sims, too.

This will be my first Easter without being with family. I'm not even working on Friday. I have to look at making some hot cross buns. I'll get to use the oven for the first time since getting the new stove. The only problem is I haven't anywhere for the dough to rise as I don't have a hot water cupboard. The cylinder's up in the roof. I know you can rise dough in the microwave - I might have to look at that, or warm up the oven and try it that way. At least it's only me, so if they don't turn out too good no one will know.

Well, better get started on tea. It's Thai green chicken curry - not that I've ever seen a green chicken! *g*

I warm the oven a little (maybe just under 100 C) and put the bread in there to rise with the door open.

Thanks for that, Janette! I shall do that. Must remember to check the ingredients I need. One year I was in the middle of making hot cross buns and couldn't find the cinnimon - had to use cloves instead. They were at least edible.

I've had a *lot* of trouble naming characters. As I write my first universe all over the place, I try very hard not to duplicate names because I don't want readers (and me *g*) getting confused.
I'm hoping this will be less of a problem in the second universe which I intend to write in order, but only time will tell!

I know nothing about hot cross buns but I do have trouble naming characters. i tend to use baby name sites and i have a fondness for slightly to very exotic names. usually the character in question is standing behind me and slaps me in the head when he/she sees one he/she likes. -mal

The phone book is my friend when I need a character name!
